Biography

Andrew was born in Warrington, and grew up in Middlesbrough, England. He discovered his passion for music at the age of 11 when he began taking guitar lessons at school. Andrew’s guitar teacher encouraged him to pursue singing, which lead to his first vocal concert at age 16.

Andrew has a degree in Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music from Newcastle College, and grade 8 music theory / vocals from the London College of Music.

While studying for his degree, Andrew was talent spotted by Sting to sing lead and backing vocals as part of his UK tour in 2004 and 2006. This experience gave Andrew the push to pursue a career in music fulltime.

In late 2006, Andrew moved to New Zealand and quickly became established in the local music scene. Andrew was the winner of a new talent search by Simon Holloway’s Beaver Studios, and he began working with Holloway and producer Jonathan Campbell to develop himself as an artist and a writer.

In 2010, Andrew released his debut single ‘She Waits’, which reached #1 on the New Zealand iTunes singer / songwriter chart. The supporting music video was filmed in Moscow with top video producer Shae Sterling. Andrew was interviewed and performed live on national TV show Good Morning to promote the release.

During his time in New Zealand, Andrew has performed for the likes of Sir Richard Branson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Robert Kennedy Jr., Sir Jeffrey Archer, the NZ All Blacks rugby team, and many more.

Mostly recently, Andrew’s track ‘Next Train’ won an international song competition for Canadian based Rocky Mountaineer. Andrew recorded the track in Vancouver with international mega producer GGGarth Richardson in February 2013. The song was used on Rocky Mountaineer’s 2013 Experience Video which has almost 450,000 hits on YouTube.

Andrew currently performs around Vancouver at many prestigious venues such as The Vancouver Club, Fairmont Pacific Rim, Fairmont Waterfront, Terminal City Club, Shangri-La Vancouver, and many more. For more details of where Andrew is playing, check out his gigs page.

Andrew works as a co-writer on many projects, the most successful being New Zealand artist Anna Wilson’s debut single ‘Say You Love Me’, which reached #37 on the New Zealand national radio charts. You can read more about Andrew’s writing work here.
