Broken
“Broken is about loving and accepting someone for who they are; flaws and all. We are all broken in some way, and I think that we, or at least I, want to be accepted for who we really are.”
She Waits
“She Waits is a break up song, dressed up to sound like a love song. The music was intentionally quite bright to offer a contrast to the lyrics, which, to me, are quite sad (walking away from someone you love). I had a very specific relationship in my head when I was writing the lyrics for this track, and it was very cathartic to deal with those residual feelings in the form of a song.”
Yours
“Yours was one of those songs that pretty much wrote it’s self. I came across an interesting way of playing Am, and the song unfolded quite naturally (within an afternoon) from there. Lyrically, the song is about me reaching a turning point in which I felt like I was coming into my own as a writer and a performer; using that confidence to give myself up to fate and see where music takes me. I love performing this song live; I get a real buzz out of the lyrics and it’s one of the few songs I feel like I can truly let go on.”
